Sony unveils flagship Xperia XZ3 with 6-inch wraparound display
While this result might be impressive, Xperia XZ3 manages to impress us even further by scoring 8665 points in the multi-core tests.
But Sony’s gotten into the habit of releasing new devices every few months, and it’s getting tougher and tougher to tell them apart.
The design has also been tweaked, with curved 3D glass blending the OLED display into the body of the phone. The XZ3 features an 18:9 OLED display with QHD+ resolution. The rear cameras also offer predictive capture alongside the 5-axis image stabilization. A Type-C USB port sits on the bottom of the phone, while a 3.5mm headphone jack is not included here. It is IP65/68 certified for water and dust resistance, weighs 193 grams, and has 158×73 x9.9mm dimensions. It’s the same 19-megapixel digital camera, and in our Xperia XZ2 overview we discovered it captured quite a lot of dispute and correct colors, however didn’t continuously get the exposure staunch style.
The Xperia XZ3 is the first smartphone to come with an HDR OLED display powered by Sony Bravia TV image processing technology. The Gorilla Glass 5 protected display is nearly bezel-less on the sides and has a Triluminos engine along with X-Reality for mobile.
If adding OLED raises other concerns such as the battery, Sony Xperia XZ3 makes up with a slight bump in the battery size. The amount of built-in storage is 64 GB expandable.
The device comes with a 6-inch display, is capable of 4K filming and has a 19MP front camera and a 13MP selfie camera. Its resolution sits in the middle of the XZ2 and XZ2 Premium at 2960 x 1440, offering a pixel density of 568ppi. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
One thing we didn’t enjoy was the slightly odd placement of the Xperia XZ3’s fingerprint sensor and camera. On the front, there is an upgraded S-Force speaker that can deliver up to 20 percent louder volume than what Xperia XZ2 could offer.
On the imaging front, the Xperia XZ3 will not follow the latest trend of dual-rear camera setup rather the device will use a single camera at the rear. You will have to splash out $899.99 in order to get the Xperia XZ3, though. It will also ship with Android 9 Pie, giving it the most up-to-date version of Google’s mobile OS.
There’s also a feature called Side Sense, which reminded us of Samsung’s Edge Sense.
According to details coming from the IFA 2018 show, the Xperia XZ3 will be available globally from the end of September with a price set at $899/£699. The Xperia XZ3 will probably follow the new “ambient flow” design languages.
