Mourners line streets to say goodbye to John McCain

Mr McCain had been routinely criticised over his military record by the United States president, who spent some time ahead of the service tweeting out a series of long-standing grievances about the news media, Canada and the Justice Department.
Senator John McCain has been buried at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, after a small private ceremony.
Mr McCain’s sons Jack and Don were scheduled to pay tribute to him at the Sunday ceremony, alongside retired Army General David Petraeus and Senator Lindsey Graham, a long-time friend.

In his memoir published earlier this year, “The Restless Wave: Good Times, Just Causes, Great Fights, and Other Appreciations”, McCain reflected on how he wanted to spend his final days, revealing his desire to be buried next to Larson. It is the last event in Washington, where McCain lived and worked for over 40 years, and part of McCain’s five-day, cross-country funeral procession.
“So we went out there and there was nothing left”, Jacob said.

The president, pointedly excluded from all the McCain events, had a hard week. As a result, in a rather ridiculous way, Trump backed down under pressure for the second time within a week and ordered the flags in the White House to be re-lowered again until McCain’s burial.
A new Washington Post/ABC poll showed Trump’s disapproval rating at an all-time high of 60 percent.
Graham and Lieberman were two of McCain’s top allies in the Senate and his close friends – they were often called the “three amigos” – and their praise for his daughter came after she posted a photo of herself with them online reflecting that bond, calling the two senators her “uncles forever”. The real estate mogul chose to instead spend the day golfing and tweeting about the Russian collusion investigation and NAFTA.
“He was always a champion of the people”, said Sam Smith, noting that he admired McCain’s effort toward campaign reform and better regulation of banks.
