Panthers DT Lotulelei carted off field with foot soreness

Carolina Panthers starting defensive tackle Star Lotulelei was in a walking boot Monday after he was carted from practice to the locker room with his right foot taped in ice.

Star Lotulelei has another foot injury.

Vermillion continued, “We are going to be cautious. He is in a walking boot and we will reevaluate his foot in a few weeks”, Vermillion said in a statement on the team’s website. Lotulelei missed part of the 2014 season due to a fracture in his right foot, but it is too early to make any determinations on the severity at this time.

That timeline would put Lotulelei at risk of missing the preseason since it’s hard to imagine he’ll start going 100 percent the first day back on the practice field.

Later head coach of the Carolina Panthers Ron Rivera weighed in on the injury woes of Star Lotulelei as well. “The doctors thought it would be better to take him in just to be sure”.

“We might be being overly protective about it”.
