Trump declares himself victim in Hurricane Maria death toll
Bernie Sanders had harsh words for the president yesterday.
It wasn’t as simple for Republicans, who did all sorts of familiar dances – ones they’ve been doing since the presidential election – when responding to questions in the hallways of the Capitol.
In the wake of the media reporting on Trump’s tweet, George Washington University released a statement saying it stood by the science in the study.
Just as soon as he tweeted the claim, people retaliated. “I think most Americans feel that way as well”, Stewart, R-Utah, told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Wednesday evening.
While Hostin said she “would never” company anyone to Hitler, she said Trump simply just “did not care enough” in this instance. When pressed on the tweets, Cornyn grew frustrated.
Some appeared to be working to calm the president down. At the time, the White House did not dispute the numbers.
Hurricane Maria hit on September 20, 2017, about two weeks after Hurricane Irma hit the island. Carlson started by asking him about comments he made regarding Russian Federation, and Avenatti said Trump should “not be standing shoulder to shoulder with Vladimir Putin and choosing Russian Federation over the hardworking men and women of the intelligence community that risk their lives for this country”. ‘I think Puerto Rico was an incredible, unsung success, ‘ he claimed.
A George Washington University report said last month that vast numbers of Puerto Ricans died as a direct result of the September 20 storm, far beyond the initial estimate of 64 deaths.
Needless to say, the reason the death toll has been revised upward is not because of any conspiracy.
“We left this analysis to the scientists and experts, recognising that there would be many challenges, because we wanted to have a powerful and independent voice to minimise the uncertainty”, he said in a video on Facebook. That is only an estimate, however, since they did not study how each individual died, although they hope to conduct that study in the future. The governor of Puerto Rico, Ricardo Rossello, isn’t even a Democrat – he’s a member of the pro-statehood New Progressive Party.
Rarest of all was direct criticism. Carmen Yulin Cruz, mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, shot back on Twitter, calling Trump’s “lack of respect”appalling”.
Studies estimated the death toll ranged from 800 to more than 4,600. Puerto Rico is still struggling to recover.
The General Services Administration (GSA) in Puerto Rico took possession of the supplies in April and began distributing the water in May, Bahamonde said. We don’t need a book.
