Apple announces new, affordable iPhone XR

Apple, a Cupertino-based technology giant, on September 12 announced the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and Series 4 Watch.

The iPhone Xs and iPhone XS Max use the new A12 Bionic chip. It retains the key advances of the first iPhone X – facial recognition and an edge-to-edge display – but is cheaper while being noticeably larger at 6.1 inches. Improvements to the ISP, Neural Engine and improved software algorithms enable portrait photos with a attractive bokeh effect. As a primary camera, it has a 12 megapixel wide angle lens. It’s also updating the portrait mode feature so users can fine-tune each image.

These upgrades apply to the front camera too, so your selfies can look like they were taken by a professional photographer.

Powering all three iPhones is Apple’s own 7nm six-core A12 Bionic CPU.

Apple also has a raft of new screen displays and new hardware.

The latest iPhone models are just getting more expensive.

Ben Wood, chief of research at analyst firm CCS Insight, said Apple’s popularity would offset the price for many.

So, that appears to be a nail in the coffin for the rumoured “iPhone XS Plus” and “iPhone XC” names, then, which were widely rumoured to be the monikers of the gadgets. The iPhone XR sports a 6.1-inch LCD screen of 1792 x 828 resolution.
