Kavanaugh Accuser Willing To Testify If Asked
“Dr. Blasey Ford’s experience is all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton”, the letter says.
“Through the more than 35 years we have known him, Brett has stood out for his friendship, character, and integrity”, the letter said.
What does Ford say happened? . “I did not do this back in high school or at any time”, Mr Kavanaugh said through the White House.
“Kavanaugh physically pushed me into a bedroom as I was headed for a bathroom up a short stairwell from the living room”, read the letter. “The door was locked behind her”, Banks told NPR. Republican senators have expressed concern over a woman’s private-turned-public allegation that a drunken Kavanaugh groped her and tried to take off her clothes at a party when they were teenagers. Kavanaugh, who’s said he’s willing to speak to the judiciary committee, will never get a fair hearing.
Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski told CNN late Sunday that the committee should consider delaying the vote.
“Anyone who comes forward as Dr. Ford has deserves to be heard, so I will continue working on a way to hear her out in an appropriate, precedented and respectful manner”, said the statement from Grassley’s office.
Katz started her own firm in Washington, D.C.in 1987, just a few years after her client now alleges Kavanaugh attacked her while intoxicated at a party in neighboring Montgomery County, Maryland. The therapist’s notes say that four boys were involved, but Ford said that was an error on the therapist’s part.
Kavanaugh had been a relatively smooth confirmation track until the allegations against him were reported last week. Of course an Federal Bureau of Investigation background check wouldn’t produce an assault that was not reported at the time, and naming off the women Kavanaugh has not disrespected or assaulted throughout his career has nothing to do with what he allegedly did to Ford.
“This is a completely false allegation”.
“This woman should not be insulted and she should not be ignored”, said Conway, who added that Kavanaugh should also have an opportunity under oath to address Ford’s allegations.
Mark Judge also denies the accusation that he witnessed the assault. “It was something that she struggled with mightily”.
“There is no way for the American people to be assured through any Senate Judiciary process that [Kavanaugh] can be trusted in his denials of this extraordinarily credible claim by a woman who had nothing to gain, and everything to lose by bravely coming forward and telling her story”, Hogue told reporters, “It is NARAL’s position and the position of our members that Brett Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination immediately”.
Ford initially declined to come forward. In April 2017, she attended a March For Science in San Francisco, which was held to protest Trump administration cuts to research, and signed a letter in June 2018 condemning the Trump administration’s policy, since abandoned, of separating immigrant children from their parents at the border.
Even if Ford’s account is true – and not politically motivated, as she insisted – it does not fit with the testimony of about 200 other women.
Before the allegations became public, Blunt touted Kavanaugh’s personal background in a speech on the Senate floor earlier this month and criticized Democratic efforts to slow his nomination.
“In weighing her privacy and the consequences to herself and her family, she has demonstrated her willingness to risk these factors to present the truth”, Eshoo said. As of Sunday afternoon, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley meant to move forward with the committee vote as planned.
Thomas was ultimately confirmed by a slim margin.
