Brie Larson takes flight in ‘Captain Marvel’ first trailer
The Oscar victor joined “Good Morning America” on Tuesday to help reveal the exclusive first look at the highly-anticipated movie trailer.
Release date: Captain Marvel will arrive in cinemas on March 8, 2019 in Ireland and the US.
The trailer continues with some very cool looking underwater Starforce tech (and the Marvel mask), another look at the explosion that gave Danvers her powers – and one tantalising glimpse of the film’s connection to Avengers: Infinity War in the shape of Fury’s pager.
Captain Marvel is here to save the world.
Another alien spaceship threatens Earth. Wham! Captain Marvel takes her out! This blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment appears to show a dead Skrull being dissected while Nick Fury stands guard with an alien weapon.
A pilot in another, Earthbound life?
She’s in search of someone, and doesn’t remember much of her life pre-Starforce. One scene of Captain Marvel punching an older woman on a public form of transportation could be one of these Skrull agents. The trailer shows a great look at Samuel L. Jackson’s de-aged and two-eyed character, who was been the connective thread between various franchises during Marvel’s first two phases. The Krees were a hostile nation, and Mar-Vell quickly sided with the humans against them, branded a traitor in his former home.
Larson, 28, said she was instantly drawn to her character, Carol Danvers.
Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) is here, and she’s our only hope in making it socially acceptable to punch the elderly.
Larson previously told Vanity Fair she accepted the part because “I couldn’t deny the fact that this movie is everything I care about, everything that’s progressive and important and meaningful, and a symbol I wished I would’ve had growing up”.
But there’s a lot more to Carol’s story than being an alien from outer space. This trailer sets the stage for the movie’s narrative, giving us a brief look at the conflict Carol Danvers finds herself in the middle of. She can be aggressive, and she can have a temper, and she can be a little invasive and in your face. Or maybe our Captain was just a bit cranky about having to take public transit.
Okay, what is making Jude Law’s space hero look so anxious? Earlier in the day, the trailer of the film too was released by MCU which has only amplified the buzz around the super-hero genre film.
