Chuck Grassley: Kavanaugh accuser has not yet agreed to testify

Kavanaugh has since said that he too would be willing to testify under oath as well. Dianne Feinstein had the letter, which requested confidentiality, for weeks before she turned it over to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and fellow Senate Democrats.
Sen. Feinstein held onto the letter and revealed it after Judge Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings had ended.

Republican Sen. Susan Collins of ME, who has been wooed by Kavanaugh opponents hoping she’ll vote with the Democrats, tweeted Tuesday she was “respectfully recommending” that at Monday’s hearing the counsel for Ford be allowed to question Kavanaugh.
Moments later, Welch issued his statement.
Democrats are demanding that the FBI be given time to reopen its background investigation into Kavanaugh so it can check the assertions of Christine Blasey Ford, the woman accusing Kavanaugh of assault. “These allegations are credible and deeply troubling”. “The FBI is not doing any further investigation”.
Republicans, some of whom see the allegations as a stalling tactic by Democrats to thwart the 53-year-old Kavanaugh’s confirmation, have been pushing to confirm Kavanaugh before November’s midterm elections, when they could lose their 51-49 majority control of the Senate.

Asked if it was possible for him to believe Ford’s story and still conclude that Kavanaugh was qualified to serve on the Supreme Court, Graham said: “I’d have a hard time putting somebody on the court that I thought tried to rape somebody”.
