Google Unveils its Flagship Phone
On Tuesday, in New York City, Google officially announced the smartphones.
There have been so many leaks of Google’s hardware over the last month or so that we know most of what’s coming. To walk toe-to-toe with other major flagships of 2018 (excluding the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Note9), the Pixel 3 and 3 XL will feature notched displays. Google is teasing that theory with a new video out today, which ties together a couple prominent YouTubers saying that everything about the Pixel 3 XL has already leaked, and nothing interesting is going to happen. The new device is created to be taken away anywhere; be it your kitchen or your office desk, always keep it close to you. The Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL had similar launch pricing, although we saw significant discounts for the Pixel 2 early in the device life-cycle.
“With Apple shooting for all ends of the market with its latest trio of iPhones, the Pixel 3 will have to stay competitive price-wise while still offering top-end specs if it doesn’t want to get jostled out”.
Fitted with a Snapdragon 845 chipset, the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL are paired with 4GB of RAM and up to 128GB of ROM.
The notch, which provides a better screen-to-body ratio to the smartphone, seems more aggressive than other phones.
“If you have a Google tattoo on you, then these are the phones for you”, IDC analyst Ramon Llamas said of the Pixel’s limited appeal so far. One of the modes is the Top Shot – which when activated recommends the best photo after the photo is being taken by capturing multiple shots of the same photo. Night Sight uses Machine Learning allows for better low light performance without the use of flash.
Google’s new Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL start from exactly where the Pixel 2 left off. Surprisingly not surprising, Google again didn’t go for the dual rear camera same as the Pixel 2. some aspects are changed like the horrifyingly massive notch on the front and gone are the metal + glass back, which means that it now supports wireless charging. The phones also come with new USB-C earbuds that can access Google Assistant and read your notifications aloud, and support wireless charging via a sold-separatley dock called Pixel Stand. Further, the handsets are rumoured to come preloaded with a “Top Shot” feature that is found to “capture the flawless shot every time”. The device comes with 3,732mAh battery and 6.3-inch OLED panel which “looks good on a sunny day”.
The new camera app, for example, relies heavily on AI. It’s still believed that there will be a model with 6GB of RAM as well. Instead of Oreo, Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL now run on more capable and a lot smarter Android Pie out-of-the-box. The phone comes with IP68 certification for water and dust resistance.
