Chief justice refers ethics complaints against Kavanaugh to 10th Circuit

McConnell’s comments Thursday on the Senate floor decrying “mob behavior” advanced an election-season argument Republicans unveiled last week.

The complaints landed with Roberts because of his role as chief justice of the United States, not because Kavanaugh is now a member of the Supreme Court. A judge on that court asked Roberts last week to refer the complaints to another court – saying they shouldn’t be handled by the same judges who served with Kavanaugh. The ethics complaints have still followed Kavanaugh, however, despite the Senate’s 50-48 vote to confirm him Saturday after one of the ugliest, most contentious judicial confirmation processes ever. At the time, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the American people should have a say in the direction of the court, meaning no judge should be confirmed until a new president is elected.

Republicans are madder about the Kavanaugh controversy than Democrats are and more determined to vote in the upcoming elections because of it.
