Worms 4 skipping PC, heading to iOS in August
It’s not related to the 2005 game Worms 4: Mayhem, which was a 3D take on the Worms formula for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 2, but is rather a sequel to the 2013 mobile game, Worms 3.
“2015 is a special year for us, as it marks both Worms’ 20th birthday and Team17’s 25th anniversary”, says Mickey Torode, marketing director at Team17.
You know the score by now – wipe out your opponent’s team with explosive sheep, donkeys and OAPs while trying to stay alive yourself.
Revealed via Pocket Gamer, the new game will feature smaller landscapes, smaller teams and shorter matches, making it a lot more “mobile-friendly”.
Team17 will also be showing a variety of games from their indie label which will be available to play throughout the show includingBeyond Eyes, Sheltered, Strength of the SWORD: ULTIMATE, Penarium and Team17 developed title The Escapists The Walking Dead. It will also have 80 single player missions as well as turn-based synchronous online multiplayer matches. This one is called Worms WMD.
The series’ first venture onto next-gen consoles, Worms WMD sports hand-drawn landscapes alongside the cartoon worms.
Worms 4 would unveiling on iOS following month before advancing towards “other mobile phone platforms” in the future.
Its great to see that Worms has kept the franchise running strong for this long! I wonder why they are skipping PC?
