Attorneys Drop Charges Against Ole Miss Star Laremy Tunsil — UNews
According to the Jackson Clarion Ledger, the All-American offensive lineman at Ole Miss and his stepfather, Lindsey Miller, dropped the charges they were pressing against each other. According to Miller, he and Tunsil fought after he warned Tunsil about having contact with agents.
Tunsil and Miller’s next listening to is planned to occur on Monday, August around three, in the event the discharge shapes do not happen to be marked by Lafayette County Judge McLarty. Reports indicate that the altercation stemmed from Miller shoving Tunsil’s mother, but Miller claims that he was attacked as the result of an argument.
The NCAA is now investigating Tunsil’s case, and representatives from the collegiate athletics governing body have already spoken to Miller and contacted the University of Mississippi.
Rebels coach Hugh Freeze expressed confidence in both Tunsil and his football program at SEC Media Days in Hoover, Alabama. “No one has talked to me, but I do know that I’m confident in who we are and how we do things, and I’m confident in the person that Laremy is”. “We look forward to that coming to a conclusion at whatever time is appropriate”.
Miller’s claim of the projected first-round pick in next spring’s draft “riding around with agents” in a yellow convertible is just one of the many accusations he made of the Ole Miss lineman violating NCAA bylaws, which do not allow student-athletes to accept transportation, money, gifts or make verbal or written agreements about future representation.
Tunsil, a junior, is a preseason first-team All-SEC selection and is expected to be a high selection in the 2016 NFL draft should he decide to declare for early entry.
Ole Miss reports for fall camp Wednesday with Tunsil still rehabbing a broken leg and dislocated ankle he suffered in December during Ole Miss’ loss to TCU in the Peach Bowl.
