Attack targets Donald Trump website as Gawker posts old cell number
He continues, “Since Trump, in his considered political judgment, has decided that opening up a direct, personal channel of communications between his supporters and his primary opponents is a noble campaign tactic, we think it’s only fair and right that Republican primary voters be able to reach out to Trump himself”.
Donald Trump, president and chief executive of Trump Organization Inc. and 2016 U.S. presidential candidate, speaks during the Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, July 18, 2015.
Final month, Trump publicly revealed the cell phone variety of GOP presidential marketing campaign rival Lindsey Graham. He also made comments about Mexican immigrants, saying that they are rapists, criminals and drug dealers, causing many companies to cut ties with the Republican candidate.
This isn’t the first time that Gawker has published a public figure’s personal information.
The cell phone number release comes amid what had grown to be a bitter dispute between Graham and Trump. This is not one he uses. “Mr. Trump has several numbers, so he has not experienced any issues”.
Graham subsequently received a barrage of messages and destroyed his phone for a parody video.
But being a gossip site with pretensions to journalism (“Today’s gossip is tomorrow’s news”), the Gawker piece came complete with a series of pretentious questions callers could ask Trump if indeed he answered the outdated number the website had provided. “Speaking of rape, does he think it’s possible to rape your own wife?” and “What about breast milk does he find so disgusting?”
MSNBC said Monday the number is the same Trump used to call in to the network in June.
