Tottenham manager urges Harry Kane to stay
Mauricio Pochettino says reported Manchester United target Harry Kane is “delighted to stay” at Tottenham Hotspur, and backed him to become of the world’s best strikers.
“He is a big supporter of the club”.
“He is young, but he is very mature”.
The veteran manager also took time to speak about his admiration for current Tottenham manager Pochettino, who he believes will do a great job if he is given the right backing by the club authorities.
But Pochettino insists that the player is happy at White Hart Lane and is ready to give his all as Spurs look to break into the Premier League’s top four. “If you can do it in England and Europe, you are doing it in the best competitions in the world. We try to build a very strong and tough group for the next few years to try and achieve important things”.
In 2015 alone, Kane scored 16 goals in 19 Premier League appearances which was more than any other player in the top flight managed. “It could be beneficial for us”, Kane said.
“He’s got some good kids in the midfield, but they are young so I think he needs real outstanding, experienced midfielder in there and he certainly needs another frontman, he can not rely on just Harry Kane to score all the goals”.
The French goalkeeper broke his wrist in a freak accident over the summer and will only start training again this week. It’s not easy because we do a lot of work on physical condition, but maybe this week he will start to catch the ball.
The 51-cap England global himself moved from Spurs to United in 1997 and consequently went on to win three league titles and enjoy a famous Champion’s League triumph. “We need to keep this mentality”, the former Southampton boss added.
