LeBron James, Paul George will reportedly attend Team USA minicamp
However, Colangelo remnants sure that the 30-year-old will consequently resolve to embrace Team USA.
“I think LeBron wants to be part of it”, Colangelo told SiriusXM.
The camp will be held in UNLV, where the players will have a “a “reunion than a typical full-speed USAB camp” according to Jerry Colangelo, managing director of Team USA Basketball”.
Colangelo said players who want to play in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics must attend, per NBA.com.
“That’s one of the reasons why I was asked to take over the program”. Even if James shows in Las Vegas – or, for the sake of argument, he doesn’t – nothing would be guaranteed in either direction for James next summer.
The USA Basketball minicamp will be from August. 11 to 13 at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas campus.
Dwight Howard, All-Star Center from the Houston Rockets was reportedly keen on joining the team and will even attend the minicamp that is “required” for all players who want a shot. As far just as if James has reported in any event Colangelo feel he knows where he’s falling. However, he is not expected to have fully recovered from his shoulder injury by then.
“This is just a loose thing I’m doing because we don’t have anything to prepare for this summer”, Colangelo said.
For Chris Paul, this could be his third straight Olympic appearance but he will be met with stiff competition from new young point guards like Kyrie Irving and National Basketball Association 2015 MVP Stephen Curry.
But James missed a career-high 13 regular-season games for the Cavs in 2014-15, mostly due to nagging knee and back injuries. Howard and Paul have already confirmed their attendance along with other stars like Carmelo Anthony, Paul’s teammate Blake Griffin as well as Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
