Matt Damon Ponders Aquaman’s Powers in New Promo For ‘The Martian’
In what has become a quintessential part of making a “going to space” movie, the dreaded interview process to determine mental faculties is now a staple of the genre.
Or would you spend the entire time pondering one of the greatest mysteries known to man: “How come Aquaman can control whales?” The official trailer is still incredibly neat, but there’s something else about these amusing little side trailers that puts it above the rank-and-file trailer blast that usually accompanies movies. Now, in a video uploaded today, the Ares 3 crew gets analyzed by a NASA psychologist after spending 10 days in isolation. In addition to Damon, the all-star team includes Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña, Aksel Hennie, Sebastian Stan and Kate Mara.
In “The Martian“, Watney is left alone on Mars after being presumed dead and the Ares 3 crew leaves the planet. Struggling to survive with only meager supplies, Watney manages to get a signal to Earth, leading NASA to search for a way to bring “the Martian” home, even as his own crew hatches a daring – and seemingly impossible – rescue plan.
As if you needed more of a reason to be excited for Ridley Scott’s upcoming adaptation of The Martian, Andy Weir’s best-selling novel about a lone survivor’s struggle after being abandoned on Mars, here it is. His “smart ass”, ingenious protagonist Mark Watney was seemingly a ideal fit for Damon. Like, what’s the deal with Aquaman’s powers? Fox will be releasing the film in theaters on October 2, 2015.
