2 dead in New Hampshire circus tent collapse
Authorities say the circus tent collapsed when a severe storm raked the New Hampshire fairground.
A tent has collapsed in the US state of New Hampshire.
State Fire Marshal Bill Degnan says a couple of the injuries are believed to be serious.
Two people were killed when a circus tent collapsed at the Lancaster fairgrounds as severe weather moved through the area Monday evening.
Lancaster has a population of around 3,500 people and is located 90 miles north of New Hampshire’s capital, Concord. Walker global Events was scheduled to do two shows Monday before moving on to Vermont on Tuesday.
They also couldn’t say exactly how many people were injured.
Gov. Maggie Hassan tweeted that state officials are working to assist with the incident and “will continue to monitor the situation closely”. The company did not have an immediate comment late Monday.
The National Weather Service said “straight line winds” of 96kmh were likely at the time of the tent’s collapse.
On Sunday one man died and more than a dozen people were injured when a tent collapsed during the annual Prairie Fest in Chicago.
