How long can Sherlock go on?

Showrunner Steven Moffat revealed that Sherlock will be more of a Victorian gentleman and less of a rude man. The special episode will show a totally different Sherlock.

Get ready for a much nicer Sherlock Holmes. He was saying halfway through: ‘Let’s always do this. “I quite like it.'”.

“[Sherlock] operates like a Victorian gentleman instead of a posh, rude man”, Moffat said during the Television Critics Association press tour. “But putting it back into Victorian times, you think it’s a chance to do a ghost story – really a creepy, scary one”. Moffat also said that because of the nature of the era, the show will feel “a bit more polished”.

“The main difference I would say, the only temperature change moving it to Victorian from Modern is ghost stories work better in the Victorian setting”, he said.

There are, however, many things that we don’t know about the series written by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss, who are also the minds behind the current generation of “Doctor Who”. “We’re not making this up”.

When asked on what was the inspiration behind the special episode, Moffat just replied “Just because we can, really”.

A fair, and fairly accurate, point – but still, the Victorian era still does seem a little random. The Sherlock special will not be a part of the regular three-episode season, which will not begin filming until 2016.

While the Sherlock Christmas special might not be actually a “Christmas” special after all, it is still rumored to be aired in the UK probably sometime around Christmastime.

 But for US fans the wait is torturous, as the BBC has the rights to air “Sherlock” first, before US broadcaster PBS Masterpiece.
