Houston Texans RUMORS: Arian Foster Suffers Groin Injury, May Require Surgery?
Foster’s backup, second-year running back Alfred Blue, left Monday night’s practice on a cart.
Foster has been a true workhorse for the Texans; however, injuries have periodically slowed him down at times.
Although Coach Bill O’Brien declined to confirm it Monday evening, Houston Texans running back Arian Foster suffered a groin injury during practice. At first, it appeared that Foster may have just tweaked something, but as time passed the injury began to look more and more significant and serious. For a player who averaged 3.1 yards per carry and struggled with pass protection last season, he may not be worth it. Instead, think about using a late-round selection on Polk. “So you can rest assured that as long as he’s healthy and he’s out there, we will run the ball”.
There’s no word on the severity of the injury and there’s certainly no reason to push Foster through a muscular injury that could get worse at this point in camp, but it does offer a reminder that Foster has missed 11 games over the last two seasons with injuries.
Foster’s health is a huge key for the Texans, because if they want to be a darkhorse this season after making big improvements last year, then they can’t afford him to be out of the lineup.
While Houston may have some capable depth at its disposal, no other running back on the roster is able to keep opposing defenses off-balance quite like Foster is.
