Red Cross Urges Blood Donations at Monthly Donation Site
Blood donations do tend to decline during the summer months as people become busy with travel and vacations.
Faith groups throughout the Bay Area have been teaming with the American Red Cross to help maintain the community blood supply during the summer months.
The American Red Cross reported a looming shortage of the most needed blood types and are calling on donors with O negative, B negative and A negative blood to donate. Those types of donations are often needed by cancer patients, surgical patients and bone marrow recipients.

However, the Red Cross still needs more than 2,200 pints of blood to reach its July goal. Donors can also visit redcrossblood.org or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) to make an appointment or for more information.
