Britain’s Beloved Cilla Black Was Found Dead at Home in Marbella
Black was reportedly staying in her home in Costa del Sol in the town of Estepona when the Spanish police learned that a woman named Priscilla White had died.
A Spanish police spokesperson confirmed on Sunday that Cilla – real name Priscilla White – is believed to have died of “natural causes”, although they are “still awaiting autopsy results”.
She went on to host the BBC variety show “Cilla” in the late ’60s, then hosted “Blind Date” (1985-2003) and “Surprise Surprise” (1984-2001).
“Over the years Cilla had kept in contact and always asked after our children”, he said.
Prime Minister David Cameron said his thoughts were with her family and praised her “huge talent”, saying she “made a significant contribution to public life in Britain”.
“It was very sad, we knew she wasn’t well and had hearing problems and arthritis”, he said.
“She said, “Let’s meet in September when I get back”, and she said, ‘Why don’t you and Neil come to Barbados after the pantomime?’ So we planned things”. Her name was Cilla Black, and she was 72.
Black’s last big recording was Something Tells Me (Something is Gonna Happen Tonight) in 1973, which peaked at number three.
2014: Sheridan Smith starred in Cilla on ITV, a drama about the star’s rise to fame.
“She was so kind and helpful to me, it was a privilege to play her. My condolences go out to her family and all who loved her. She will be truly missed. X”.
With her reliable good cheer and tireless work ethic, Black was a TV natural.
According to The Independent, Black’s representative Nick Fiveash said, “Details of her death will be announced following the coroners report”.
She wrote: “If there are any celebrities who haven’t yet tweeted their sadness over Cilla, please report to Sincerity Services immediately #rushtogush”.
Signed by the Fab Four’s manager, Brian Epstein, she had a string of hits starting in 1964 with “Anyone Who Had a Heart“, written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, and “You’re My World“.
Tim adds: “I did let Cilla know my news a couple of years ago and she was happy for me”. “She was a national treasure and more”.
She was married to her manager, Bobby Willis, for more than 30 years until he died in 1999.
Joe said: “Like everyone else, I am very shocked and will miss Cilla a great deal”.
