Di Maria set for Paris St-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain expect to complete the signing of Angel di Maria this weekend with Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal ready to replace the unsettled Argentine with Barcelona forward Pedro Rodriguez.
A £59.7m move to Manchester United was Di Maria’s alternative option a year ago, but his haste at giving up on his career at Old Trafford has led his rising army of critics to conclude his marriage to the Old Trafford club was very much one of convenience. Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking to seal the deal before their opening Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspurs.
ESPN indicated that the England global started as right back in all of United’s preseason games and it would be surprising if van Gaal would use someone else other than him, even if the coach did not mention his name during the interview.
Van Gaal is hopeful that United will retain the services of de Gea this season, but acknowledged that the rumours swirling around the star goalkeeper were not helpful to either the play or the club. “He knows how to assist, to score goals”, Luiz was quoted as saying by BBC.
The former Real Madrid winger was left unsettled after an attempted burglary on his Cheshire home in February.
With Di Maria’s transfer all but sorted, Ed Woodward is set to turn his attentions to signing Pedro, with the club official set to meet with relevant Barcelona personnel in a bid to acquire the winger.
Van Gaal has said that United need some with speed and creativity if they’re going to win the title in the next two years.
“I’m really satisfied about the performance”.
“I don’t treat players any differently if they are big names or if they are young”. United have been linked with a £22m offer for Pedro as his replacement, with the player himself believed to be ready for the move as he searches for regular first-team football.
He said negotiations between two prominent clubs “can be difficult” but Manchester United and PSG are nearing the end of the Di Maria deal, Sky Sports reported.
A string of injuries, a gradual slump in form and a moment of outrage against Arsenal in FA Cup Semi-Final which landed him a red-card all added up to him being an outcast in Louis Van Gaal’s starting XI. You have to prove yourself every time.
