Cowboys’ Dez Bryant throws punch at teammate during workout
We can’t imagine that the combatants in Sunday’s much-talked-about training camp fight, Dez Bryant and Tyler Patmon, will receive any kind of stern talking-to from their boss, Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.
The two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver took on second-year cornerback Tyler Patmon, who had been covering Bryant during 11-on-11 work late in practice. It was the first time he had seen last season’s NFL leader in touchdown receptions (16) since Bryant wrapped up the financial security he felt he had to wait too long to get.
The two players got tangled up at the end of a play and then started throwing some big punches at each other before teammates intervened to break up the two. Bryant and Patmon hugged and shook hands on the field, per the Cowboys’ official website.
“Sometimes when you get a new receiver, you just don’t know their mannerisms and some of their subtle movements that their brain thinks”, Romo said. “So we go out at, we squashed, and it’s over”.
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Dez Bryant continues to be among the most controversial players in the NFL, a reputation that apparently extends to the practice field. ‘At the end of the day, that’s something that you really need for a team, on a team.
Later in his answer, Jones clarified that if Bryant reacted in a similar fashion in a game, he’d nearly surely be suspended … so it’s not exactly a good thing? That’s why Patmon, he was undrafted and he’s fighting his way. Patmon went through a normal postpractice routine of catching passes before he was besieged by media. “You don’t want somebody weak on your team”. It just escalated on the next play.
“Romo always has been a positive guy to me and he always cared about the decisions that I made and he gave me credit with the maturity over the years”, Bryant said.
When Dez Bryant’s coach told him to ‘hit ’em hard, ‘ he didn’t mean this!
Both players went to Oklahoma State, though they did not play at the same time. “He’s fighting for respect and he got mine”.
What’s on tap for Day 5 of training camp?
