Cilla Black didn’t want lingering death, says friend
This needs to be confirmed by the postmortem, but the evidence gathered by the police suggests that she died of natural causes, but that her death might have been provoked by an accident.
Born Priscilla White, she started out working in the cloakroom at the Cavern club, where The Beatles were first spotted, before taking to the stage herself.
Cilla was introduced to Brian Epstein by John Lennon, who persuaded him to audition her. In September 1963, Brian signed her up as his only female client.
She then went on to become a TV presenter, and is perhaps best known for hosting popular prime-time shows Blind Date and Surprise Surprise.
Black became an Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 1997 and was given a special award by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) past year.
Bruce Forsyth expressed his shock to the BBC, saying he still thought of Black as “just a kid” and that “72 is no age to leave us all”.
By the late ’60s she was well-known sufficient to be recognized by her first identify alone, and hosted a selection present, “Cilla“.
She reportedly died overnight after flying to Spain with her son Robert.
Joe said: “Like everyone else, I am very shocked and will miss Cilla a great deal”. Her catchphrase delivered in a strong Liverpool accent that replaced the letter “t” with “r” was “a lorra, lorra laughs”. Police say big-voiced British singer and TV host Cilla Black has died aged 72.
Now Starr, who appeared on her BBC variety show, “Cilla”, which aired between 1968 to 1976, has paid tribute to his “good friend”, reports mirror.co.uk.
“She will be missed by everyone who knew her and by the millions of people who loved seeing her on television or hearing her sing”.
“I will always think of her as outrageous, funny, incredibly gifted but above all full of heart”. They had three sons as well as a daughter who died in infancy. She said, “My father played the mouth organ, my mother and aunts used to sing, and it wasn’t unusual for families to get together and make their own music in the fifties”.
So far, results from the postmortem examination have been inconclusive and no further information had been released on Monday, but a spokeswoman for the high court said that Black died some time before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
