Seagate announces Game Drive for Xbox external drive for growing storage troubles
The original Xbox One was released with only 500 GB of internal storage, and of that, only about 360 GB is usable.
Seagate and Microsoft have joined forces to create a new 2TB Game Drive for Xbox that allows gamers to store plenty of extra games for easy access due to its plug-and-play connection with the Xbox One and older Xbox 360. That’s why hard drive manufacturer Seagate is stepping in to address a growing area of concern by partnering up with Microsoft for a new solution. With RRPs of similar 2TB hard drives hovering around the £80 mark, that’s not too bad if you insist on a fancy-looking drive next to your console.
Designed for the Xbox One and coloured in Xbox green for that very reason, the aptly-named (2 Terabyte) Game Drive looks to help the console’s owners deal with their storage dilemmas. The hard drive will come with a USB 3.0 cable to hook up to the console, at which point it can be formatted through the Xbox One UI. And since there’s no operating system like your console will have this can all be used for games.
Revealed at this week’s Gamescom conference, the Game Drive has a green top case with a black body, complementing the usual Xbox colour scheme. – Microsoft is privileged to be working with Seagate as our trusted partner for this important designed for Xbox peripheral.
The 2TB model will have a MSRP of $109.99, and be available from GameStop, Best Buy, Amazon, and other retailers.
