Dr. Dre announces first new album in 16 years

It has been a while since music mogul Dr. Dre came out with a new album and his fans can now start counting down the days because Dre has confirmed that there’s a new album just around the corner. The album is out August 7, exclusively on iTunes’ Apple Music.

After “2001”, Dr Dre focused on producing songs, including Eminem’s Grammy-winning single “The Real Slim Shady”. Detox was to follow The Chronic 2001.

For those of you who are still waiting on Detox, it won’t be released. The release never happened. There was no explanation at that time.

Dre says he was leaving the set of Straight Outta Compton when he became inspired by Compton, the film and its history.

He was quite critical of the album in the interview and candidly said ” It wasn’t good”, adding that he felt he did not do a good enough job which would have been worthy of a release despite his hard work. So if he wasn’t feeling it, he dropped the whole album.

Fans will have an entire week to review Dr. Dre’s latest project before checking out Straight Outta Compton, in theaters August 14. The announcements were also featured on Twitter.
