Clyne eyes Premier League title with Liverpool

Liverpool endured a miserable 2014-15 campaign and missed out on Champions League qualification, having only narrowly lost out on the title as runners-up to Manchester City the previous season.

Nathaniel Clyne believes the timing of his move to Liverpool has given him the best possible chance of getting off to a flying start this season.

New Liverpool full-back Nathaniel Clyne insists that he is looking forward to establishing himself in the club’s first-team plans next season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side finished sixth in the league standings last season and were eliminated from the League Cup as well as the FA Cup at the semi-final stage.

Clyne signed for a reported £12.5 million, as reported by the BBC, and some feel that he could be one of the biggest and most influential signings for the club during the current window given the difficulties the Reds had in his position last season, and down the years with Glen Johnson failing to really impress.

Striker Rickie Lambert’s year at Anfield ended with a move to West Brom last Friday, while centre-back Dejan Lovren and midfielder Adam Lallana are hoping for improvement after hard first seasons on Merseyside.

“As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me, I was happy and just wanted the deal to go through”, he said after signing for the club.

“Overall it’s given me time to bed in and get to know the team and how they play, and also get to know the manager, the staff and how they operate as well”.

“I’m confident in my ability and the player I am that I can make the next step up”.

“I think it’s important to get as much game-time in as you can while you are young”.

He added: “I’ve seen lots of great atmospheres at Anfield, especially on the European nights, so it will be exciting to experience that”.
