Williams Confirms He Is Staying at Swansea Despite Everton and Palace Links
Though Chelsea didn’t get off to the winning start they hoped for in the Community Shield, the Blues enter the Premier League season as firm favorites with championship pedigree.
He told Sky Sports: “I’ll be staying, the gaffer has come out and said that”.
Swansea have not received any formal bids for him this summer and Williams says the speculation has no impact as he prepares to lead the Swans in their fifth season in the Premier League. “And trying to push on with this club has been my main aim, my cause”. I let other people deal with that.
“It’s very hard. We were so fantastic last season”. It’s part of the job and I just take it as a compliment and shows that you’re doing your job properly.
“It’s something I’m really proud of with Wales and Swansea”.
“It’s going to be tough, but hopefully we can do the same again”, Ki said.
Swansea manager Garry Monk stated that Williams will not be allowed to leave the South Wales outfit ahead of the new campaign, and the former Stockport County man has no intention of seeking pastures new.
“We have a good squad and last year everybody bought into what we were trying to do and try and stay as consistent as possible”. It’s no big thing for me, it’s normal, it’s part of the job. “We won’t change what we did, we want to try and build on it”.
Ki scored in the win over Manchester United on the first day of last season as Swansea went on the finish a creditable eighth in the Premier League.
“We have a hard game, a massive game but everybody looks forward to play at Stamford Bridge and we’re happy to go and see how we do”.
