Calgary couple identified as victims of deadly Alberta boat trip
On Monday evening RCMP called off the search for Stertz after scouring the shoreline and lake extensively. RCMP say the pair set out on McGregor Lake near Vulcan on Sunday.
After speaking to witnesses, police determined that a man and woman, both in their 30’s, were seen in the same boat earlier that day. One family member said they believe Kamber fell in the water and Wayne went after her. She described her grandson as an active and loving young man.
“He made her feel like a princess and she loved him deeply”.
Reached by phone in Cranbrook, Lindenbach’s uncle said her family is rallying together during this hard time.
Lindenbach was from Golden, B.C. originally, but had lived in Calgary for a number of years.
Her and Stertz were set to marry on August 13, friends told.
“She had her lovely fiancé. She’s an absolute attractive soul”, said Annette Milbers. Anybody that’s been impacted by her life, she’s always there to listen and hear people and she really just had a passion for life and it showed in everything she did.
Lindenbach’s uncle said her mother Irene is now going through the unimaginable pain of losing a second child and “can barely get a few words out before breaking down”.
Anyone who may have seen the two boaters at McGregor Lake are asked to contact the Vulcan RCMP Detachment at 403-485-2267.
