Acer Aspire One Cloudbook Sports Windows 10
The extra cloud and local storage and the free year of Office both make the higher-end Cloudbook 11 the only one we’d seriously consider-we’ll give it a full review as soon as we can get one.
The Aspire One Cloudbook series seems to be inspired by Acer’s Chromebook family; they combine affordable, entry-level specifications with useful cloud services that are ideal for students and other computer users who can cope without beefy internals. The 16GB version comes with a 1-year, 100GB OneDrive voucher.
Packing a 2.4 GHz Intel Celeron N3050 processor based on Intel’s 14nm process, and running Windows 10, the Cloudbooks will come in two variants, both of which remain below the $200 threshold.
Both machines also come with dual digital microphones with enhanced digital signal processing (DSP) so online phone calls and chats with Microsoft’s Cortana voice assistant are clear. (1.6kg). Sporting a mineral gray cover with a dotted textile pattern that provides good tactile feedback, these notebooks offer full-sized HDMI, USB3.0, USB2.0, and SD Card ports to eliminate the need for additional adapters.
The Aspire One Cloudbook Series packs everything in fan-less design.
The Aspire One Cloudbook 11 and 14 features 802.11ac wireless technology, allowing up to three times faster connection speeds, while eMMC configurations up to 64GB provide adequate storage for work and play. 70 inches (17.9mm) thin; the 11-inch model is 2.54 lbs.
The 11-inch model will arrive in North America in August, and then in Europe in September. Acer promises 7 hours of battery life, and all models have touchpads that support Windows 10’s new multitouch gestures.
Acer Cloudbook 11-inch model will be available this month and will sell for United States dollars 169 and the 14-inch version is coming in September for USD199. The systems also will come with a one-year subscription to Microsoft’s Office 365 Personal software and up to 1TB of Onedrive online storage.
