Naga Peace Accord: Sonia Gandhi Alams PM Modi’s ‘Arrogance’

However, Sonia today lashed out at the PM for failing to consult chief ministers of northeastern states before finalising the peace accord.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Thursday called Modi government “arrogant” for ignoring Congress chief ministers before signing the Naga peace deal and accused the government of insulting the people of northeast.
“We ” re actually shocked that the PM didn ” t even think of taking into confidence our CMs”, the Congress president said.
“Their arrogance is now even more clear; it is not just an insult to CMs but to peoplel of the state and the federal structure of country”, she said.
The Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) on Monday successfully concluded the dialogue on Naga political issue and signed an agreement in Prime Minister Modi’s presence.
“How can they sign an accord with NSCN without consulting Nagaland CM. This government is arrogant”, she said, even as members of her party began protest at the Gandhi statue outside Parliament over the suspension of 25 party MPs by the Speaker.
