Skylanders Superchargers to Feature Online Adventure Co-Op
Along with the online racing functionality, gamers can play Skylanders SuperChargers online cooperatively for the first time in series history; previously, cooperative play could only be done from the same console. The multiplayer racing action will be available to all Starter Packs, with six tracks available out of the box. To help supplement this new game mode, Activision will be offering Racing Action Packs that will unlock additional content. Packed-in villain trophies will unlock two new tracks and new game modes and can be exchanged with friends to further expand each other’s games.
Fans can augment their SuperCharger experience with a complementary, dedicated racing combat game – Skylanders SuperChargers Racing – for the Wii and 3DS hand-held system.
Like Mario Kart, the vehicles in Skylanders SuperChargers include unique traits for speed, handling, acceleration, weight, and armor.
Not only will Skylanders SuperChargers feature vehicle-based and on-foot exploration and combat, but it will also have both split-screen and online racing.
Skylanders Superchargers will be available for the iPad, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 system and Nintendo’s Wii U on September 20.
The land tracks come complete with things like boost pads and power ups, and vehicles come equipped with primary and secondary weapons to take out other racers. Twenty new SuperChargers character toys and 20 new vehicle toys will be available. On Nintendo 3DS, gamers can go head-to-head with competitive multiplayer via local play or online with up to four players.
We were treated to demo the PS4 version of the game and were given a handful of different characters and vehicles to choose from. Additionally, Skylanders SuperChargers supports all 300+ Skylanders toys from previous games, enabling all Skylanders characters to pilot land, sea or sky-based vehicles.
