Cecil’s death could have larger ecological impact

Online backlash regarding the death of Cecil has garnered such massive global support that the White House announced on Thursday that they would be reviewing a petition to extradite the dentist back to Zimbabwe to face charges.

The backlash has hit Bronkhorst as well. Another guide was released without charges last week.

Up until today, Delta had accepted hunting trophies if customers provided appropriate documentation to U.S. customs officials and if the animal in question was not a protected species.

Palmer, a wealthy Minnesota dentist, shot Cecil with a crossbow and arrow earlier this month during a hunt that cost him $55,000.

Palmer, his professional hunter guide and the owner of the land where the hunt took place are accused of illegally hunting Cecil, according to Zimbabwe’s government.

James Palmer says his patients have mostly stepped in to help defend him and his business. Their Florida vacation house was sprayed with graffiti and pig’s feet strewn across the driveway, Florida Newstime reported.

After Cecil’s merciless death on July 1, Jericho has taken over the alpha male duties for the pride and is protecting the cubs.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Transportation also should forbid any airline or shipping company from carrying such ill-gotten “trophies” into the United States.
