Saudi mosque blast ‘kills 17’ in Abha
A suicide bomb attack on a mosque in Saudi Arabia has left 15 people dead.
According to detail mosque located in Abha city was being used by emergency response forces and those died in the tragedy were also associated with Saudi forces.
The victims were members of a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit, the spokesman told AFP.
Similarly, on May 29, four people were killed when a auto exploded near a Shia mosque in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on Friday, but authorities said militants failed in their bid to hit the mosque itself.
The explosion happened at the headquarters of the SWAT team, which is tasked with domestic security, he added.
It is not now known who carried out Thursday’s attack.
Attacks in Saudi Arabia have increased since the government joined U.S.-led operations against Islamic State in Syria past year.
