Gotze says Guardiola must communicate more
Mario Gotze has warned Bayern Munich manager Pep Guardiola that he could leave if their relationship does not improve.
The Spanish boss was reportedly fuming with the situation, and when the half-time whistle blew, Guardiola made his way to the tunnel, where he confronted De Jong. De Jong, who is not one to shy away from an altercation, was more than willing to make his thoughts known as well and had to be restrained by his fellow players before things got out of hand.
He will miss the final of the Audi Cup against Real Madrid, but is now set to be available for Bayern’s Bundesliga opener against Hamburg on August 14.
“The challenge against Kimmich should have been punished more severely”, he said on ZDF televsion. “For this reason, I have said something to De Jong”.
This is not the first time that de Jong has irked an opponent due to some over-zealous tackling.
The former Manchester City man was responsible for an aggressive tackle on then-Newcastle United playmaker Hatem Ben Arfa, which broke the midfielder’s leg [Daily Mail].
The Germany worldwide was on target as Pep Guardiola’s side beat AC Milan 3-0 on Tuesday, and after the match he was asked about his future.
“I didn’t see the challenge”, insisted Coach Mihajlovic on Sport Mediaset.
“For that reason, games such as this one cannot be defined as friendlies”.
“We play football, this is no ballet and fouls are part of the game”, the San Siro trainer added.
