Chris Farley’s ‘Shrek’ Revealed in Leaked 1997 Story Reel Spinoff Online
Before his tragic death in 1997, Chris Farley was originally cast to play the role of Shrek. Although the original video was uploaded two years ago on Vimeo, it’s just now making the rounds – and while Myers certainly made the character his own, it’s not hard to wonder what Farley could have done, given his great comedic skills.
It’s tough to decide who would’ve been the better voice, but Shrek surely would’ve been much, much different with Farley instead of Mike Myers.
Ultimately Meyers’ version of the character seems to be a bit more cynical or acerbic than Farley’s “angry yet sweet” take on the ogre. Shrek (Mike Myers) goes on a quest to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) with the help of his loveable Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and win back the deed to his swamp from scheming Lord Farquaad.
Here’s your chance to meet Shrek, as voiced by Chris Farley.
Now a story reel featuring Farley’s voice as Shrek gives insight into what the beloved animated character would have sounded like. The video was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday and has since caught Reddit’s attention. It would have been a different movie, but we probably would have loved it all the same.
