Blackhawks star Patrick Kane subject of police investigation near Buffalo
Blackhawks star Patrick Kane is the subject of an unspecified police investigation in upstate New York, according to the Buffalo News.
Police wouldn’t confirm or deny “the existence or nonexistence of a criminal investigation” into the 26-year old Kane because he hasn’t been charged with a crime.
According to Lou Michel and Robert J. McCarthy of the Buffalo News, Kane is reportedly being investigated by police for an unknown incident in the Buffalo suburb of Hamburg.
No charges have been filed yet and it’s not known whether the 26-year-old star has been questioned by police.
A similar comment was provided to the paper by Erie County District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
“We neither confirm nor deny the existence or nonexistence of an investigation until such time as someone has been charged with a crime”, Sedita said.
There’s not much to go on here and that may anger some Hawks fans, but the Buffalo News isn’t some gossip site.
BN also filed two FOI requests which the town has 20 days to accept or reject.
Kane had his issues in the past, including his arrest in the summer of 2009 for attacking a cab driver.
The investigation comes as Kane has been praised for his off-ice maturity following a turbulent introduction to stardom. He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct – a non-criminal violation – and did not serve any jail time.
Kane again found himself on the wrong side of the headlines in May 2012 when he got into an altercation outside a bar in Madison, Wisconsin.
