Floods kill 169 people across Pakistan, says NDMA

ISLAMABAD (AP) – The death toll from flash floods triggered by seasonal monsoon rains in various parts of Pakistan has risen to 118 and floodwater has inundated vast areas, leaving tens of thousands homeless, authorities said Monday.
Another 22 were killed in the Himalayan region of Kashmir, 13 in the southern-western province of Balochistan and seven in Gilgit-Baltistan in the north.
Presently, more than 700 flood affected people are being accommodated at Pakistan Navy’s relief camp and are being provided with requisite facilities.
To date, in total, 5,795 houses have been damaged, leaving over 900,000 people affected.
Meanwhile, more than 4,000 people have been rescued in the last 24-hours by the Pakistan Navy teams deployed at Badin, Khairpur, Sukkur, Pano Aqil, Larkana, Rani Pur and Gambat during the on-going flood relief operation “madad”.
The rain continues but weather conditions are expected to improve in coming days.
