HBO Now has now made its way to Chromecast
The apps for HBO Now, HBO’s over-the-top streaming service on both iOS and Android platforms have been updated with support for Google’s Chromecast. The support for Google’s Chromecast marks the second media player platform for HBO Now, following the dedicated app on the Apple TV. Watch Food Network and Watch Travel Channel add a slew of new shows available to cast onto our TV, and for children and the nostalgic among us, Pokemon TV now includes Chromecast support.
The latest update of the app also gets push notifications, probably to alert its users about new content, for e.g. the upcoming episodes of their favourite shows. HBO Now was first launched on iOS devices including the iPhone and iPad earlier this year, and quickly gained popularity, followed by its arrival on Android only a few weeks ago. HBO’s -per-month, online-only HBO Now service is now available for Chromecast.
The HBO NOW website also notes that Amazon fireTV and fireTV stick support is “coming soon”.
Also added to Chromecast is Pixlr, one of the most popular photo editing apps for Chromebooks and developed by Autodesk.
If HBO Now does not interest you, then you will be happy to learn that a gang of other apps received Chromecast support this week as well in Google Play.
