Robbie Lawler vs. Carlos Condit headlines UFC 193 in Australia
Hendricks (17-3) is coming off a unanimous decision win over Matt Brown in his last outing at UFC 185.
On Wednesday, during a segment on UFC Tonight, it was confirmed that UFC welterweight Robbie Lawler will defend his welterweight title against former interim champion Carlos Condit at UFC 193 in Australia.
Lawler instead defended against Rory MacDonald at UFC 189 over the summer, and appears to be targeted for a title defense against Carlos Condit at UFC 193 in November. Hendricks had defeated Lawler for the vacant UFC welterweight title at UFC 171.
His victory over Kampmann snapped “The Natural Born Killers” two fight losing skid, with both losses coming against former champions Georges St. Pierre and Hendricks, earning Fight of the Night for both performances. That came about due to a freak injury though when Condit suffered serious knee damage during a takedown attempt from Woodley though, resulting in a second round TKO stoppage and lessening the impact of the win. Wherever it takes place, Australian-based MMA fans will get to experience a UFC championship fight live for the first time ever. A light heavyweight bout between former champion Rashad Evans and Ryan Bader will also take place on this card. If he retains his title then, chances are he may be facing the victor of Hendricks-Woodley, with a matchup against Hendricks being infinitely more interesting.
