‘Game of Thrones’ author hangs out at Jets camps
According to Rich Cimini from ESPN New York, the Game of Thrones author not only roots for the Jets but is such a die hard that he is now attending training camp and watching his team up close and personal.
On Wednesday, he visited the Jets’ training camp practice.
The site also mentioned the speculations swirling online that “Winds” could possibly drop on every bookstore this year due to Martin’s statement on his blog just recently. “It was great to talk Jets history with them and hear how closely they have always followed the team”.
Decked out in a black Jets hat, black trousers, T-shirt and suspenders decorated with skulls and crossbones, Martin chatted with players, fans and Jets officials who surely wanted to know the fates of characters Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Sansa Stark and Daenerys Targaryen, among others. Maccagnan and Martin went inside the Jets’ facility after practice, presumably for a tour of some sort.
Incidentally, Kevin Clark of the Wall Street Journal published a story today about the awkward problem of how NFL players deal with overhearing GoT spoilers in the locker room. Someone asked Martin about it as he left the field.
“And while I will be travelling, my army on minions will be here at the old basement, toiling in the paper mines”, Martin said.
Martin wrote the “A Song of Ice and Fire” epic fantasy novels that have been tailored by HBO for its Emmy-profitable dramatic collection “Game of Thrones“.
Maybe he’s just looking for motivation to kill out next favorite character in his book series. Sure, he’s a creative guy who knows how to go against the grain of traditional sorry arcs, but he’s also something much more depressing – a New York Jets fan.
