Is Salma Hayek Breaking Up With Hollywood? Actress Says Movie Studios Don’t
Hollywood’s need for Hayek in their films mostly likely have nothing to do with her recent slam of a certain Republican Presidential hopeful. Then there is my husband (French billionaire Francois-Henri Pinault) also who takes me to many places.
Framed by the story of Almitra (voiced by Quvenzhané Wallis), a little girl who hasn’t spoken since her father died, the film channels Gibran’s writings through the character of the poet Mustafa (voiced in the rich bass tones of Liam Neeson). It’s uplifting. It’s respectful. “It honors children”, she said of the movie she produced and which was inspired by her 7-year-old daughter, Valentina Pinault. “That is that the educated people or the people with great human values have to wake up, because they are under the illusion that most of this country is like them and sometimes they don’t even go to vote”. That’s why we have the nursery rhymes and then we don’t give it to them anymore.
Salma Hayek gushed about the film, saying, “It’s meaningful”. It’s their first language.
She says she’s not being hunted down as much for roles in LA, but, quite frankly, she just doesn’t care!
In this July 29, 2015 file photo, Salma Hayek attends the LA Special Screening of “Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet” in Los Angeles. “They think in metaphor”.
When asked how she felt about turning 49 in September, the actress “scrunched her face” and said: “No Botox yet, you can see”. “(Not) the good guys”, she added.
Though she now has a load on her plate, Hayek revealed that Hollywood movie studios don’t look for her as often as before. “The only thing that is tough about the 40s is when you haven’t had a child”. But you know what?
