Rousey attends soccer game at Maracana after UFC win in Rio
In this photo released by Inovafoto, Ronda Rousey, right, fights Brazil’s Bethe Correia during their mixed martial arts bantamweight title fight at UFC 190, early Sunday, August 2, 2015, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. And as she walked away victorious, Rousey used the exact same words to Correia, “Don’t cry”.
However, she caused the champion serious offence shortly after the bout was announced in May when she said that Rousey could kill herself after losing the title.
As she spoke to Fox Sports, Rousey mentioned about returning the favor during the post-fight press conference. I’m not going to have to think about her ever again after this day and I’m sure she’ll have to think about me plenty. The event was wonderful.
“It wasn’t the result that I wanted”.
“I don’t regret anything“. But of course I have a lot of lessons that I learned.
Correia went down face-first into the mat and, after only 34 seconds, the fight was over.
“I hope that nobody really brings up my family anymore when it comes to fights”.
Rousey was also asked about what she said to Correia in the immediate aftermath of the knockout. Rousey sought to make an example of Correia and as she laid unconcious on the moment, she had her Muhammad Ali flexing moment and looked down at her downed opponent and uttered a simple phrase “don’t cry”.
“She is winning, so everybody is around her cheering her up, but when she realizes she is not everything that she believes she is, I don’t know what might happen”, Correia trashed talked, laughing.
