Keiynan Lonsdale joins The Flash as Wally West

Now the heavily teased Wally West aka Kid Flash has been cast in the form of Insurgent actor Keiynan Lonsdale! But does the show have room for more than one Flash?

He’s set to portray the role of Wally West, a character in comics that becomes imbued with the same powers as The Flash after a very similar incident.

In the comic books, Wally West is the nephew of The Flash’s love interest and girlfriend Iris West. However, on the TV series, Iris doesn’t have any siblings, as pointed out at this year’s earlier Superman Celebration by Candice Patton, who plays Iris on the show, although she hinted that Wally West was a possibility for the series.

Commenting on Lonsdale’s addition to the cast, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said, “Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero”.

And speaking of suits, if West does don super duds, will they be the classic red-and-yellow Kid Flash look, or more like the New 52 Silverhawk look that West was seen wearing in recent issues of The Flash? He added that they are excited to bring the courageous character to the show. Are you looking forward to seeing Wally West on our screens?

Wally will not be the only new face next season. However, in the CW series the character will join the team as Joe’s new partner, replacing Eddie. Fans will have to wait to find out.

On the upcoming second season of The Flash, fans will be getting not one, not two but THREE speedsters! It’s already been confirmed that Jay Garrick, the Golden Age Flash, is going to be Barry’s new mentor on The CW show, and it looks like he’ll also have a sidekick in season two.
