North Yorkshire Police stop driver with sheep in boot
The man, in a Peugeot 206, was initially stopped on suspicion of driving with two bald tyres, but when officers look more closely they noticed a fully grown sheep in the boot of the hatchback auto.
IT takes a lot to surprise the police – officers are used to seeing unusual things as they patrol the highways and byways of this great, if eccentric, land.
A motorist pulled over by police with a sheep in his auto tried to pull the wool over their eyes – by claiming he had taken the animal to McDonald’s for fast food.
A spokeswoman for North Yorkshire police who spoke to the told the Northern Echo the motorist explained he had just taken the sheep with him for a quick trip to the McDonald’s in Leeming Bar. “Officers have just stopped this vehicle which has 2 bald tyres and a sheep in the boot”.
Police said local press and social media had got excited over the sheepish tale, using the hashtag #sheepinacar.
“We have no other information apart from what the officer tweeted. Although we might equip our officers with better high-definition cameras”.
