C of I named to Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges”
While our objective is not to crown one college academically “best” overall or to rank the schools 1 to 380 on a single topic, our lists provide direct student feedback on the schools’ campus culture, program offerings and cost.
The 140 colleges that The Princeton Review chose for its “Best in the Southeast” 2016 list are located in 12 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia.
The Princeton Review editors made their selections based on data the company collected from its survey of administrators at several hundred colleges in each region, as well as its staff visits to schools over the years, and the perspectives of college counselors and advisers whose opinions the company solicits.
“We are honored to be recognized by The Princeton Review and our students, not only for our academic excellence as a public liberal arts university, but also for our outstanding educational environment that embraces all that Asheville and the surrounding Blue Ridge Mountains offer”, UNCA Chancellor Mary K. Grant said in a release.
In a “Survey Says” sidebar in the book’s profile on Catawba, The Princeton Review lists topics that Catawba students surveyed for the book were in most agreement about in their answers to survey questions. Collectively, the 649 colleges on The Princeton Review’s “regional best” lists constitute about 25 percent of the nation’s 2,500 four-year colleges.
Temple University, University of Pennsylvania and Villanova University have made it in the Princeton Review’s 2016 edition Best 380 Colleges guide. Its college guide includes two-page profiles of each of the schools considered to be among the top schools. “We designed our 80-question survey to include questions that prospective applicants might ask on a campus visit”.
Phyllis Wise, chancellor at Urbana-Champaign, slammed the ranking, calling it a “promotion for the Princeton Review” in a statement, but said it presented an opportunity for university officials to discuss safety with students and parents. I bring all of your unique stories back to The Princeton Review headquarters, where our test prep and admissions experts are constantly searching for new ways to help you achieve your education goals. Drexel was also highlighted for its cooperative education program that “gives students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop professionally in their field of study”.
