Jumanji remake confirmed, due in 2016
Robin Williams and a young Kirsten Dunst starred in the original “Jumanji“, and although the special effects weren’t great, it was a fun movie that thousands of millennials grew up loving. So that means it’s time for a reboot.
It’s obvious no one can replace Robin Williams in this remake, but Chris Pratt has certainly proved he can carry an action movie and work with CGI. Many successful films aimed at children are now animated, like Pixar or Disney animated films, unlike “Goosebumps” or “Jumanji“.
Will you be watching a Jumanji reboot?
We all know Hollywood loves reboots and remakes, but it’s getting seriously ridiculous now. It’s earmarked the film for a December 25th 2016 release in the US, and we’d imagine the UK release won’t be far behind.
It told the story of a unsafe board game that trapped a man inside it for decades, only to be accidentally released by two unknowing kids.
Sony Pictures also dated a whole bunch of other movies arriving over the next few years, such as Uncharted and Passengers, not to mention two Bad Boys sequels with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
So many movies to come!
Originally hired in 2012, it’s understood that screenwriter Zack Helm is still attached to write Jumanji, though in the time that has lapsed since, it wouldn’t be too surprising if the script was doctored before Sony eventually shepherds the project in front of the cameras.
