Alexis Sanchez returns to Arsenal training

Alexis Sanchez looked to be in good shape as the Chile worldwide continued his pre-season preparations with his Arsenal team-mates in training on Thursday.

Following improved transfer activity in recent seasons, with the purchases of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, Wenger has received the backing of the Arsenal Supporters Trust in a member’s survey. “We have to decide that at the end of the week, but I don’t think he will be involved”, he said.

With Wenger’s options further limited by the additional absence of Welbeck and Rosicky, he could be tempted to name Sánchez among the substitutes even though the striker returned from holiday only on Wednesday.

Also pictured in action during Thursday morning’s training session were the likes of Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott. Regarding the deals, he said: “I’m very happy because first of all, they are two exceptional players, and as well because I think the cohesion inside the club is an underestimated quality”.
