McDonald’s is going to bring your food to the table
The fast food joint is rolling out a new table service at locations overseas.
“It’s an idea that has been successfully launched in other McDonald’s markets including France, Germany and Australia, and we are keen to see if it will prove as popular with customers in the UK”.
Outlining the move’s appeal to customers, Shaw, head of McDonald’s service solutions in the UK, adds: “They think it’s more comfortable, less stressful and actually faster”.
In a statement, the company said it is “significantly investing in… restaurants to create an exciting new environment and improve the customer experience”.
This is what some McDonald’s restaurants in Australia look like.
Customers can come into the restaurant, order food at a touchscreen kiosk, then go to a table to wait for their meal to be brought over.
Customers will be able to order from digital kiosks, allowing customers build their own burgers like in rival chains Five Guys and Shake Shack or Ireland’s The Counter.
McDonald’s has struggled to increase profits recently in the face of growing consumer choice.
This news comes after the chain began trialling an all-day breakfast menu in the US.
“Families looking for a treat”, he says, standing inside the first British branch to offer table service.
The new managing director of McDonald’s UK, Paul Pomroy told The Guardian that the plan was designed to service busy parents.
