Former president George W. Bush not chosen for Dallas jury
He was not selected to serve, but the former statesman spent time talking to other jurors and taking pictures with those who wanted one.
The former commander-in-chief, who was US president from 2001 to 2009, posed for photos with star-struck Texans before being told he was not needed.
“President Bush received his jury summons and reported for service this morning at the George Allen Courts Building in Dallas”, Bush spokesman Freddy Ford told CNN in a statement.
Not surprisingly, president bush was dismissed without being seated for a trial.
“He was very personable, very friendly, just ‘hey I’m here to serve, ‘ he asked questions and was very nice”, Ms Coleman said.
The Dallas Morning News reports another potential juror, Joel Ehambe, sat in front of the president and turned around to spot him.
British prime minsters – and any MP – are officially exempt from jury service but Tony Blair was called up while in Downing Street in 2000.
Another potential juror said he was surprised to find the former president right behind him at the 14th civil district court.
News photographer Mike Kinney tweeted from the courthouse, “If the former President can show up for jury duty what excuse do you have?”
